Largest village church in Germany - The church in Cunewalde with 2632 built seats and its 3 galleries is demonstrably the largest Protestant village church in Germany.
Built in 1793, the baroque structure is the dominant building in the Cunewalde valley. In addition to church services, organ and other concerts are held here.
Of particular charm is the entire ensemble around the church, characterized by typical Upper Lusatian half-timbered houses, the unique architectural style in Europe.
Only about 1 hour away by car or by train you will reach Dresden, the capital of Saxony, with its famous sights:
A landmark of the city is the Frauenkirche, which was destroyed on February 13/14, 1945, except for two side walls. In 2005 its reconstruction was completed and today the church sees itself as a "worldwide symbol of peace and reconciliation".
The Semper Opera House is a building of historicism and bears mainly elements of classicism. The Zwinger in the baroque architectural style was built as a place for royal festivities as well as art exhibitions on a former bastion of the city fortress. It was one of the first buildings to be rebuilt and restored after World War II.
On the outskirts of Dresden, 15 kilometers east of the Dresden city center, directly on the Elbe River, lies Pillnitz Castle, Europe's most important chinoise palace complex.
Görlitz - Germany's easternmost city and the largest city in Upper Lusatia is characterized by late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque town houses in the old town and extensive Wilhelminian style neighborhoods around the old town. Görlitz survived the Second World War almost without destruction and has one of the best-preserved old towns in Europe, with numerous historic buildings, some of which are listed. It is the city with the most separately protected monuments in Germany. The Gothic portal arch at the house Untermarkt 22, which is also called the Whispering Arch, is considered a visitor magnet. Its arch transmits even the quietest sound waves from one side to the other.
The Landeskrone, Görlitz's local mountain (420m), is a popular excursion destination with a view of Görlitz, the surrounding area, and the Jizera and Giant Mountains. There is a hotel with gastronomy and an observation tower on the mountain.
Unique in Europe, it is a testimony to successful reclamation of rugged legacies of open-cast lignite mining. Discover over 6000 erratic blocks, embedded in an artfully designed garden world.

The listed buildings are mostly from villages that had to give way to lignite mining. The buildings, which are up to 300 years old, were carefully removed and reassembled at the Erlicht pond true to the original.
The charming ensemble conveys the image of a Lusatian heath village as it might have looked in the 19th century. In addition to the museum farmstead "Erlichthof", the small village, located on the Wolf Cycle Path, includes eighteen other rough timber houses, which are open to guests.
The nature and tourist information office offers a wide range of information material as well as guided tours through the unique ensemble of folk architecture.
